Classes! And other things!

So at the beginning of the month I was able to sign up for Disney classes! Exciting right! So there are quite a few classes that are offered. Anything from seminars to actual classroom based classes. If you want to know specifically what classes are offered, click HERE, to go to the course syllabi website where you can read about what classes you can take while at Disney as well as what is going to be required of you.

The class I chose was Corporate Communications. I am really excited about this class, and after reading what this class has to offer it makes me even more excited to be down in Disney. It is a class that offers an environment where I can learn how to communicate effectively in different situations and with different people. As a communication major, everything that you do is a form of communication, but whether verbal or nonverbal the way you come across to the people you are around makes a difference in all aspects of your life. The class I chose is going to be in the afternoon, and will begin mid June and end around the end of August. The class goes for four hours once a week, and will have assignments and projects. I will post updates about the class once I start it, but for now I am just excited to have the opportunity to learn at Disney!

Just an update on the time frame, I am less than a month away from being on a plane to Florida. When I started this countdown it was at between 80-90 days, and now my arrival is 23 days from today! I have started to gather things to take with me, and started gathering them in my suitcase or in a small pile. I will post a packing list when I start to pack, I have a rough list, but you never really know what you need until you get there, other than clothes, bedding, and such. I also hope to start a vlog pretty soon here. It will probably start with the packing and go from there.

As always...

Dreams becoming a reality

Hey! So this is going to be a blog about my journey through the Disney College Program. I know that I will get busy, but I will try to keep it as updated as possible for those who want to keep updated about my time at Disney World.

So far I have gone through the application process, the interviews, and then I was accepted into my role! I will be participating at the Disney World location for the Fall Advantage program, and my role will be Quick Service Food and Beverage!

First things first, why the Disney college program?
I heard of the program while my sisters were in college, both of my older sisters have actually participated in this program. While they were doing their programs my family visited, and at that point I was still pretty young, but I knew that some day I would be working for Disney just like my older sisters. Some days I was not sure this was really going to happen, I had applied three times and was accepted my third time. Why not just give up? Because I knew that if I gave up on my dream then I would be letting go of something that I had been looking forward to since about seven. You cannot just give up on things because sooner or later things will work out they way that they are supposed to, and here I am, accepted and headed to the place of my dreams in less than a month!

Now the application process...
The application process was mostly all online, with the exception of the phone interview. It started with the general employment information and then you get a web based interview. If you pass the web based interview then you are able to schedule a phone interview. This for me was the most nerve wracking part. I prepared so long for this interview.  It was a lot of studying and just overall preparation that really helped me feel comfortable with just being on the phone and feeling confident with my answers overall. I do have to admit I used a Disney quote or two, but who wouldn't? You will be working for Disney after all! So after the interviews are all over you get to wait. I had my interview on a Monday and then was accepted that Friday into my role. It might happen like that, or you might have to wait, it just depends on the interviewer and how everything goes and where they feel you will best fit in the company. But through this process I have learned that you should never give up on something that is important to you, no matter what it takes and especially when it comes to your dreams. The advice I would give is to smile, and just be yourself! They are doing this interview to find out who you are and how you will fit in at Disney.

My dreams are being turned into a reality, I can't wait until May when I will be in Disney World making magical memories with amazing people and to find out my location for where I will be working!
